[Miata] Turbo minivan, was: Second car NMC

Yeah, saw him at Fremont a few times. Fun to watch, especially at night, it
had a steel plate on the lip of the tailgate that would throw a shower of
sparks the length of the strip. But we didn't consider it a serious race car
at the time. With time and perspective I can appreciate it now. Nice to read
the history of it. Especially since I have seen the obits of many of the
notable names of the era in the last several months, of natural causes,
(some very unkind people call it old age). Dyno Don Nicholson, Ronnie Sox,
Dandy Dick Landy, Pat Foster, Lil John Buterra, Wally Parks, Connie Swingle,
Art Arfons, Barney Navarro, Robert E Peterson, Evel Knievel, all gone. RIP.
Bob

Back in the early 90's I had a brand new 5.0 Mustang and I'd go up to New
England Dragway in Epping, NH on Wednesday evenings with my buddies for
'street tire' night.

My car ran low-to-mid 14s at ~96mph, which was fine for the simple bolt-on
mods I'd made.

I can clearly remember the night that I lined up against a mini-van and was
completely blown away (literally & figuratively) when he beat me down the
track. Later I found the guy in the pits and saw his turbo'd motor.

I've always wondered about the longevity of the motor & drive line in those
cars when they run under so much pressure.

I've seen it. Customizations don't count. And it's still a minivan,
I don't care how fast it goes! Though I applaud the interesting effort.
