[Miata] '02 Bucking Without CEL - Update

I can buy it from Finishline brand new for $80:

Considering I paid as much for a Fuel Pressure Regulator on Junior a couple years ago, I'm not too shocked.  If I can fix this thing for less than $200 (including the $90 diagnostic fee I paid the dealer--worth it if you don't have the diagnostic tools and the fact that someone's paying you to find this stuff, which I don't), I'll be happy.

FWIW, the invoice stated that the tech (one of their head techs) had found a P0335 stored in the ECU, which corresponds to a Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Failure.  Makes their recommendation of replacing the sensor even more common sense.

You can pick one up from FM salvage for a whole lot less than 325.  I, uh, have a little experience with that after misrouting the wire lead following a TB change on my 97.  8-}

No, they didn't.  Guess I'll just do it myself once I get the car back today.  It'd possibly save me having to replace it (I mean, the CPS is just a magnet with a wire coming out of it, right?).

So, going back to my first response, did anybody ever check the gap on the crank sensor?

Update from the dealer: the car had a fault code for the Crank Position Sensor (not Cam).  I politely said "no" when they quoted me $325 to change it out.  They also found an arc mark on the plug wire going into the #3 cylinder and suggested changing the wires and plugs (or at least the #3 plug).

Does this sound reasonable?

ps - The recall that the car was under that requires a PCM change/modification is 3505H:
